Real Madrid president Florentino Perez insists that Kaka will stay at the club next season, and is confident the Brazilian can get back to his best.
Kaka has been with Los Blancos for four years since making a £53.5million move from AC Milan, but has failed to live up to expectations, making just 14 appearances under Jose Mourinho last season.
There has been much speculation that the 31-year-old could return to the Rossoneri this off-season, but Perez believes there will be a resurgence in Kaka’s form next season, when he’ll have the chance to work under former boss Carlo Ancelotti, once again.
“Kaka is a phenomenon, but he got injured in the last World Cup and had to have an operation on his knee,” Perez told Gol Caracol de Colombia.
“Then [Mesut] Ozil arrived and took his place in the team from him, but he is still one of the greats of the game. He is the second most followed footballer on Twitter, after Cristiano Ronaldo.
“He is charming and excites the fans. I’m optimistic that, under Ancelotti, who knows him very well, he can be the same magical Kaka again that we signed.”
However, it remains to be seen how much playing time the midfielder will actually see, with the presence of Mesut Ozil and the signing of Isco casting doubt on Kaka’s future in the Spanish capital.
