Arguments over whether part of Hagley Park can be redeveloped to accommodate the Cricket World Cup, are wrapping up in the Environment Court.
Many have taken opposition to Canterbury Cricket’s plans to make Hagley Oval into an international venue.
Canterbury Cricket’s lawyer Pru Steven says the sections of law to be considered are complex, especially when the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Act is thrown in the mix.
She argues that the upgrade is entirely consistent with the central city recovery plan.
Closing submissions should conclude early this afternoon, with judge Jane Borthwick expected to reserve her decision.
